Job Description: The Nurse Residency Specialist is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Nurse Residency Program. This position works collaboratively with the academic partners related to graduate nurse education, with human resources and patient care services for graduate nurse hiring, and with Clinical Staff Development for graduate nurse orientation.
Minimum Requirements: A current Pennsylvania registered nurse license is required. A master's degree in nursing (MSN) or a master's degree in a health care related field or a master's in education is required, if master's degree is not in nursing, must also possess a bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN). A minimum of five (5) years of recent acute care clinical experience is required. Must have preceptor experience with new graduate nurses. BLS, ACLS or PALS certification required. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Must have the ability to creatively problem solve, use good judgment to make decisions, prioritize and, work independently with minimal supervision. Must have professional oral and written communication skills. Experience in detail-oriented responsibilities (such as extensive record keeping and file archiving) and excellent organizational skills. Ability to organize delivery of quality customer service while managing multiple projects and tasks. Certification in designated specialty area required within two (2) years.
Preferred Qualifications: Academic or staff development teaching experience; teaching experience in the classroom, simulation lab, and/or clinical setting; Professional certification in a clinical or education specialty by a nursing credentialing organization; Experience with advanced technologies used to deliver or evaluate educational experiences, such as learning management systems, polling devices, evaluation software, or instructional or web design skills; Active member of a professional nursing organization; Project management experience and certification in designated specialty area preferred.
Licensure and Certifications:BLS certification, PA RN Licensure
